New Student Orientation

Meet Your Orientation Leaders

Alex Miller

Hello everyone and welcome to LSUS! My name is Alexandra Miller. I am a senior Community Health major with a concentration in Pre-Physical Therapy. I hope to one day open my own PT clinic somewhere close to home. I am from Jennings, Louisiana and graduated from Notre Dame High School. Also, I am on the women's basketball team here at LSUS. One thing about me that not a lot of people know is that I love to do jigsaw puzzles! I am so excited that I get to be a part of this amazing and hardworking orientation staff. I cannot wait to meet you all and help you start this crazy and fun journey. Go Pilots!

Alexis Harris

My name is Alexis Harris, better known as Tweety. I am from the small town of Washington, Louisiana which is 2 hours south of here. I attended a small high school by the name of Northwest, which made LSUS perfect for me. I am a junior here at LSUS. This is my third year on this beautiful campus and I absolutely love it here. I am majoring in Psychology with the hopes of becoming a Sports Psychologist after my expected graduation date of May 2019. Also, I am a part of the women’s basketball team. I am very excited to help the incoming students find their way and lead them in the right direction. Orientation was great when I attended as a freshman. I hope to give the incoming freshmen an awesome time and to make them excited to become a Pilot.

Alysia Canon

Hi, my name is Alysia Cannon. I'm originally from Shreveport and attended Captain Shreve High School. I am a sophomore majoring in Cellular and Molecular Biology with a concentration in Pre-Veterinary Medicine to eventually move on to become a veterinary surgeon. On campus, I revamped the Pre-Vet Club, bringing together many animal lovers as its president. I also joined Phi Mu which has allowed me to be greatly involved in philanthropy events with a cause larger than myself - the Children's Network Miracle hospital. So far, through my extracurricular activities, I have found individuals with like interests and become a part of a sisterhood built to last the test of time. Lastly, my hobbies include painting and reading. Earth without "art" is just "eh" and individuals of LSUS have allowed full expression of my passion from designing flyers to painting windows. There are so many clubs and organizations, you are sure to find your niche and I am here to make sure the transition is as smooth as possible. LSUS truly feels like a home and I warmly welcome you to our pilot family! As an orientation leader, I am honored and excited for the task of personally ushering in the class of 2021!

Colton Alford

Colton Alford

Hello Pilots, my name is Colton Alford. I'm a junior this year here at LSUS. I graduated from Haughton High School in 2013. I am currently majoring in Cellular and Molecular Biology. In my spare time I enjoy hunting, fishing, and swimming. My favorite band is the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and I've had the pleasure to meet the lead bass guitarist. Although I am a really picky eater, I'm learning to enjoy and try new things. My favorite food of all would have to be CRAWFISH!!! I love to go on adventures and I hope one day to see the Redwood Forest. As for now my next journey leads me to be YOUR Orientation Student Leader. I hope your year goes well! Good luck, Pilots!!

Shandrea Lyons

Drea Lyons

My name is Shandrea Lyons. I am from Monroe, La and I am a sophomore criminal justice major. I am the captain of the GoIden Illusion Danceline at LSUS. I also am a member of the Student Activity Board and Student Government Association. like to dance, workout, and travel. I'm excited to be an LSUS Orientation Leader because my Orientation Leaders had such a positive and lasting impact on me. I would like to be able to give someone else that same sense of reassurance that I received. What I'm looking forward to the most is not only telling incoming students what LSUS has to offer, but actually having the opportunity to show them one on one.

Jonah Harrington

Jonah Harrington

My name is Jonah Harrington and I am the youngest of 5 brothers. I am currently a senior majoring in Petroleum Engineering with aspirations to go to medical school and hopefully become a surgical oncologist. My favorite pastime is reading. The books I enjoy reading the most are from the classic Tarzan series, which consist of 24 adventure novels. On another note, I like to think of myself as a chocolate milk connoisseur as well as a pizza pundit. I graduated from Benton High School in 2014 and my desire to become a Freshmen Orientation Leader was first sparked when I went through orientation. I saw how having this knowledge gave you a sense of confidence and direction. Knowledge is power and I wish to empower you. I look forward to helping you face the challenges ahead and watch you sprint pass them with the speed of the Olympic sprinter Michael Johnson (gold track cleats not included). LSU-Shreveport helps create within us a determination to dream big and instills the neglected virtue of hard work. We are beyond mediocrity. We are leaders. We are family.

Jordan Bordelon

Jordan Bordelon

My name is Jordan Bordelon. I am a junior majoring in Financial Analysis. I'm originally from West Monroe, Louisiana, but Shreveport has quickly become my new home. I am lucky enough to have been at LSUS my whole college career, and I have loved it! I'm a firm believer that you get out what you put into any situation in life. Because of this belief, I do all that I can to be active on campus any chance I get. My favorite things about LSUS are the Greek life, the free food events in the university center, and the free yoga classes. I'm so excited to be an orientation leader so I can meet all the new students and show them around our great school! #PilotProud

Kristin Chapman

Kirstin Chapman

Hello my name is Kirstin Chapman. I was born in Geneva, Ohio 20 years ago and moved down here when I was in elementary school. Safe to say I am a fan of the South and don't see myself moving back up North anytime soon! I am a proud Benton High school alumni! I like to spend my free time dancing, reading, painting, and watching Disney movies! I am a huge kid at heart which is why I want to work with kids as a career. I am a junior majoring in Early Childhood Education here at LSUS. I am over the moon excited to be your orientation leader! I hope to erase any fears, answer any questions, and get you pumped up about college! Welcome to the Pilot family!

Krisha Aytona

Krisha Aytona

Hello everyone! My name is Krisha Aytona. I am a senior majoring in Community Health - Pre-PT. One super interesting fact about me is I am Filipino. I just moved here a little over 3 years ago and I also have a twin brother. I am absolutely thrilled to be working again with the Orientation team this school year! My experience as an Orientation Leader (OL) over the last two years was so much fun and I truly can't wait to welcome the class of 2021 with my fellow Orientation Leaders! What I'm looking forward the most as an OL is new students signing up for their very first class in college. Being able to help them do that is exciting but overwhelming on their part. So, as an OL, I would be the one to make this part of their Orientation as easy and fun as possible. Another part of the Orientation that I'm looking forward the most is the Organization Fair. There are just so many clubs and organizations on campus who are as excited as the new students to join them. Personally, I think this is a great way to get new students be involved and make their college career more fun! Ultimately, I look forward to welcoming these new students during Orientation. Go Pilots! #PilotProud

I am Indian and Italian. I am part of Student Activities Board (SAB), International Student Association, Debate Team and India Studies.
