International Admissions Requirements

International Graduate Checklist

The following items are necessary before an admission decision may be made. All the items listed must be received at least 90 days prior to registration for classes.

  2. SUBMIT ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPTS
    • Post-secondary level or college academic records from each institution attended in the United States of America should be sent directly from the institution. Hand delivered transcripts must remain in the original, sealed, unopened envelope to be considered official.
    • All foreign credentials must be submitted in English to the Office of Admissions and Records using a member organization of one of the following two national associations of credential evaluation services:
      • National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) (www.naces.org)
      • Association of International Credentials Evaluators (AICE) (www.aice-eval.org)
    • Foreign medical graduates may submit evaluations from:
  3. DEMONSTRATE ENGLISH PROFICIENCY (by either of the following:)
    • Official TOEFL (www.toefl.org) scores sent directly to Louisiana State University Shreveport (code #: 6355) by the Educational Testing Services (ETS). Minimum scores required for graduate admission are: 550 on the paper based version or 80 on the internet based version.
    • IELTS composite score of 6.5.
    • ELS Level 112.
    • TLC Level 9 (www.thelanguagecompany.com)
    • Minimum score of 53 on the Pearson Test of English (PTE)
  4. OFFICIAL PLACEMENT TEST SCORES
    • Additional application documents sent directly to Louisiana State University Shreveport, such as letters of recommendation and satisfactory scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or General Management Admission Test (GMAT), if required by the degree program.

F1 Student Visa Checklist

Prospective students seeking an F1 student visa or who have entered the United States on an F1 student visa are required to submit the following documents:

  • Complete the educational background report using the online form HERE.
  • Financial Information:
    • Completion of the Affidavit of Support Form HERE.
    • Provide proof of fundings showing amount of money available in U.S. dollars.
  • Proof of immunization or immunity to measles, mumps, and rubella must be provided prior to registration. Proof of tetanus/diphtheria immunization is also required. An online form is available HERE.
  • Provide verification of an adequate health insurance plan to hospital, medical, surgical, and major medical, and repatriation expense protection, or its equivalent. (You may get your health insurance after your arrival into the U.S.).

English Proficiency Requirements Waiver

  1. U.S. high school diploma earned, having attended all 4 years of high school in the U.S.
  2. Bachelor's or master's degree earned from an accredited U.S. institution
  3. Score of 480 on the English/Critical Reading section of the SAT; or 20 on the English Section of the ACT
  4. U.S. transfer requirements (minimum 2.50 overall GPA on 30 or more semester hours above remedial level, including a college-level course in English and in mathematics, or two consecutive English courses, from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university)
  5. Secondary or tertiary education including bachelor's or master's degrees in a country where English is the primary official language: Australia, Belize, Botswana, British West Indies (Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Bay Islands, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, Montserrat, Saint Croix, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, The Turks and Caicos Islands), Canada, England, The Gambia, Ghana, Guyana, Ireland, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Mauritius, New Zealand, Nigeria, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Somalia, Swaziland, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Union of South Africa, United Kingdom, Zambia, & Zimbabwe.
