The James K. Elrod Department of Health Administration sponsors two prominent events each academic year; namely, the James K. Elrod Distinguished Lecturer Series and the James K. Elrod Distinguished Alumnus Series.
The James K. Elrod Distinguished Lecturer Series
Each fall, the Elrod Department presents an installment of the James K. Elrod Distinguished Lecturer Series. Each of these events brings to campus individuals who have made important contributions in the health industry to share their insights and experiences with the publics of the Department and University. Initiated in 2009, the first lecturer was George E. French, III, Chief Executive Officer of Minden Medical Center in Minden, Louisiana, and most recently, noted cardiologist Dr. Phillip Rozeman presented insights which were most helpful to all in attendance. This event is open to all publics of LSU Shreveport.
The James K. Elrod Distinguished Alumnus Series
Each spring, the Elrod Department presents an installment of its Distinguished Alumnus Series. Initiated in 2011, each of these events brings to campus a given alumnus of the Elrod Department who shares insights on his or her career in the health care industry with the students, alumni, and faculty of the Elrod Department. This particular event coincides with the Elrod Department’s annual homecoming for those who have graduated its programs. Alumni are welcomed back to campus to network with current students, fellow alumni, and faculty members, making for an enjoyable event, anchored by a special presentation from one of their peers.
