James K. Elrod Department of Health Administration
LSU Shreveport's James K. Elrod Department of Health Administration is named in honor of the Willis-Knighton Health System President and Chief Executive Officer who served as the driving force behind establishing health administration offerings at the University. Mr. Elrod was compelled to provide extensive funding for this Department in an effort to ensure the existence of a qualified pool of executives available for service in the health industry of northern Louisiana and beyond.
Mr. Elrod's generosity has elevated the status and stature of the Department's many educational offerings, including its 100% online Master of Health Administration (MHA) program, its Distinguished Lecturer Series, and its Distinguished Alumnus Series. These and related offerings provide educational training and insights for those engaged and interested in the rapidly growing health industry, which increasingly demands the skills of competent leaders to administer its myriad, sophisticated medical establishments, including hospitals, medical clinics, nursing homes, assisted living centers, and home health agencies.Dr. John L. Fortenberry, Jr. is Chair of the Department.
