The Department of History and Social Sciences offers undergraduate degrees in History, Sociology and Criminal Justice. In addition to these majors, several minor courses and concentrations of study are offered to allow student the option of tailoring their educational experience to their individual needs. Faculty are actively involved in many different areas of scholarly and applied research and are committed to the highest level of teaching excellence.
Students also have several different options for extracurricular involvement. There are student organizations and honor societies associated with the various disciplines in our department.
The Department of History and Social Sciences has recently opened the Paul Jones Library (closed stacks) for history majors and faculty.
The Red River Regional Studies Center conducts primary research in to historic and geographic issues within the Red River Valley in the Ark-La-Tex region.
The Strategy Alternatives Consortium conducts research on military and political issues within the framework of the humanities and social sciences.
