Curriculum

The MBA degree program at LSUS is a non-thesis general MBA. The program consists of two parts: foundation courses and graduate courses. It is designed to meet the professional education needs of full-time and part-time students and is appropriate for holders of either business or non-business undergraduate degrees.

Foundation courses prepare students for the advanced material taught in the graduate courses. Students with business undergraduate degrees typically do not take foundation courses, but may need to complete some foundation coursework if their undergraduate programs did not include all of the foundation courses. Students with non-business undergraduate degrees usually need to complete up to 24 semester hours of foundation coursework, which may be taken on a pass/no credit basis. The 30 hours of graduate coursework consist of eight required courses and two electives. Because the MBA is an advanced degree that provides students with the knowledge and skills needed in a variety of business careers, the program is a combination of quantitative and non-quantitative courses. The required graduate courses (3 semester credits each) are:

A variety of courses are offered to fulfill the elective requirement (6 semester credits). Electives allow the MBA student to select courses in a chosen area, such as finance, accounting, real estate, health care management, marketing or international business. Online courses from AACSB-International accredited business programs may be accepted with approval from the MBA Manager.

Courses at LSUS are 15 weeks long (a semester). During the summer term, courses are accelerated, but the classroom hours are equivalent to a 15-week term.
