Preparing for Advising

Advising is a two-way street. Your advisor understands the bigger academic and professional picture and can help guide you through your degree. But as a student you are expected to have information about available classes, university policies, and your current status, so that you can come to the advising session as an informed and active participant.

To help you prepare, we've summarized the steps that you should take before your advising appointment. After reading this information, print out and complete the Advising Preparation Checklist to take with you to your advising appointment as proof that you have completed the necessary steps.
