High school activities that prepared for college challenges:
The high school activities that prepared me for college challenges were playing sports and being active in school sponsored clubs. My involvement in sports taught me discipline and the importance of teamwork. Being in a club gave me opportunities to be a leader and taught me different ways to express my thoughts more effectively.

Factors considered in choosing major or program:
The factors that I considered, when choosing my major, were the career options available and the courses I would have to take. I wanted to choose the major that would best equip me with the necessary tools for my future career. I also considered the classes I would have to take and if they suited my strengths. For instance, I really enjoy math and accounting is a field centered on applied mathematics.

My Reason(s) for choosing LSUS:
I chose LSUS because of its academic excellence, location, and affordability. The university is known for its academics, which really impressed me. I really liked the city of Shreveport because it is a big city with a small town's attitude. The clincher was the ability for me to get a great college education for such an affordable price.

Campus resources that have helped me get the best education at LSUS:
The campus wide lab and the writing lab have helped me tremendously. The campus wide lab is open until midnight and gives me easy access to research materials and other helpful resources.

My favorite LSUS professor is (and why):
Dr. White, my history professor, is one of my favorite teachers at LSUS. She is more of a storyteller than a teacher or lecturer. You can't help but to become engaged in the lectures she gives. She is also really down-to-earth and easy to talk to out of class.

My favorite thing about LSUS (and why):
My favorite thing about LSUS is the amazing professors. All of my professors have been great and truly care about the students.

My LSUS club / organization memberships include:
I am a member of the Baptist Collegiate Ministry.

A memorable moment at LSUS:
One of my most memorable moments was during Metro at the BCM on Thursday nights. Every Thursday night at the BCM, college students from all around the Shreveport/Bossier area come together for fellowship and to praise the King of Kings.

My favorite activity outside of my coursework is:
My favorite activity outside of my coursework is hanging out with my friends and spending time with my family.

My other interests include:
I enjoy reading, running, and playing basketball.

My career goal is:
I would like to become a CPA and start my own accounting firm.

My LSUS email is:  Smithj4285@lsus.edu
