Amanda Figlio

For a lot of students, finding that one golden opportunity can be all it takes to start their future. Our own, senior fine arts student, Amanda Figlio may have found just that. A few months ago, Amanda's professor, Michael Graham, forward her an e-mail about the movie Shark Night 3D. The producers were looking for a student or artist to do figure drawings. When Amanda saw the opportunity, she couldn't pass it up. Amanda immediately got in touch with the prop master and was hired to complete the figure drawings. The movie also rented nine of her own drawings.
After all of Amanda's hard work was done, she was asked to be an extra in the movie. She was included in the scene where her artwork was featured. "The experience was amazing. It's a lot of hurry up and wait, but seeing my artwork on set was well worth the 14 hour work day." Amanda made great connections and hopes to work on more movies.
Amanda will graduate in December 2010 with a bachelor's degree in fine arts and a minor in art history. She hopes to take a year after graduation to work on more movies and then earn her master's degree in art history. After she completes her master's, her hopes are to one day work in a museum doing conservation work.
