Lindsay Nix

What I do now: I'm a software engineer for the iTunes and App Store at Apple.

How I got to LSUS (or why I chose LSUS): After a few semesters at other colleges, I moved to Shreveport and enrolled at LSUS to
buckle down and get serious about my future.

Fond memories of LSUS: I met some of my closet friends while working on campus. Also, free ice cream day!

LSUS faculty who helped me: Dr. Fife, Dr. Critcher, Dr. Trutschl

How LSUS helped me succeed: The small classes helped me get the attention I needed to learn at my best.

Advice to college-bound students: It's more important to learn the material in class than it is to make good grades. Trust me. Years later, it won't matter if you made a good grade, it'll matter if you remember and can apply what you learned in college to your work.

Advice to someone who wants to enter my field: Sign up for LinkedIn and keep your profile up to date. Also, keep an open mind. There are literally thousands of possible jobs with a Computer Science degree.

Tips on choosing a major or career: I think it's important to find something you're good at, you enjoy, and leads to a job you want to do. Something that fits in the middle of those three things will make a great major and lead to a great career.

What I'd be doing if I had all the time in the world: I'd be traveling the world.
