What I do now: I am a second generation builder and the President of Locke Homes, Inc., in Shreveport.
My work/job consists of: Developing neighborhoods and providing homes for families. We are proud to have developed Cobblestone, Pepper Tree, Apple Tree, Kings Crossing and our latest neighborhood, The Haven.
How I got to LSUS (or why I chose LSUS): I knew that I wanted to work with my father, Beal Locke, so I elected to stay in Shreveport and attend LSUS so that I could work at the same time.
How LSUS helped me succeed: LSUS gave me a solid foundation to transition from college to my professional life.
Advice to college-bound students: Take college as your first professional job. What you put into it is what you will receive in return.
Advice to someone who wants to enter my field: Know every aspect of it and listen to those who have experience. Get as much advice as you can from consultants and apply common sense.
Tips on choosing a major or career: Be certain that the field you choose is something you have a passion for and believe in.
My toughest professional challenge: Weathering the business cycles and during the slow periods, providing for family and workers to keep our team together.
My toughest personal challenge: Loss of my father and mentor
Successes (honors, awards, etc.) in my life: Marriage and family. My wife, Denee', and I have recently celebrated our 22nd anniversary. We have 3 children, Saige, Beal, and Remi. I have always been involved in the community and have served on the Board of Directors for The Shreveport Chamber of Commerce, The Military Affairs Council, and as President of Pierremont Oaks Tennis Club and East Ridge Country Club.
I've learned this from life: You get out of life what you put into it!
