Michael Mosura II, PGA

Michael Mosura II

My work/job consists of:  I am the owner/operator of Anytime Fitness. I oversee daily operations at our locations.

Path to my current career position (how I got from the past to the present): I began my career as a PGA “class A” golf professional. I worked in the golf business for 15 years as a golf pro at local golf courses and wrapped up the golf career as a director for a national golf course management company.

How I got to LSUS (or why I chose LSUS):  I transferred to LSUS from Youngstown State University. I moved to Shreveport in 1995 to finish my degree and pursue a career in the golf business.

Fond memories of LSUS: I made a lot of friends while attending LSUS.

LSUS faculty who helped me: Dr. Anderson was instrumental in guiding me throughout my time at LSUS. Dr. Sadow, however, was the professor whose classes I enjoyed the most. His passion for politics and his style of teaching I found most enjoyable. To this day, I continue to follow his blogs and study his material.

How LSUS helped me succeed: My time at LSUS taught me a lesson in perseverance. Working full time and taking a full load each semester was not easy, but it taught me to never give up and that you get out of life what you put in.

Advice to college-bound students: Take school seriously and give it everything you've got! Work hard, but live every day like it’s your last!

Advice to someone who wants to enter my field: Understand and master business fundamentals, but know how to treat people well! Interpersonal skills carry as much weight as the degree you will obtain.

Tips on choosing a major or career: Choose a career path that you know you will be happy in. Don’t choose a path based on financial gain, rather what you can do each day that makes you want to get out of bed and achieve greatness in that field.

My toughest professional challenge: Balancing multiple businesses while maintaining a healthy balance at home

My toughest personal challenge: Overcoming the fear of failure. Knowing that God has a plan for me and to trust in Him to guide my every step.

Successes (honors, awards, etc.) in my life:

Elected to the Bossier Parish School Board (4 four-year terms) President 2010

Shreveport/Bossier 40 under 40 Business Leaders Award

I’ve learned this from life: Keep your priorities in line: God, Wife, Family And………………..

As Zig Ziglar once said, “You can have anything in life you want, as long as you help others get what they want.”

What I’d be doing if I had all the time in the world: Spending every minute with my best friend and love of my life…..my wife, Kristin.
