Business Graduates

Pamela S. Daves

WHAT I DO NOW:

I work for the largest 3rd party logistics company in North America in the Colorado Springs office.

MY JOB/WORK CONSISTS OF:

I am an account manager; I work with about 40 different clients in different industries and help manage each of their supply chain/transportation needs.

HOW I GOT TO LSUS (OR WHY I CHOSE LSUS):

I am from the area; I started college at LSU in Baton Rouge.  While I loved it and had a great time, I wanted to be closer to home, so I transferred back to LSU Shreveport.

FOND MEMORIES OF LSUS:

I loved going to college with both of my sisters- we all took a speech class together and had a great time!

LSUS FACULTY WHO HELPED ME:

My advisor Wolfgang Hinck and teachers Karen James and Janet Goode helped me tremendously in my time at LSUS.

HOW LSUS HELPED ME SUCCEED:

The smaller classes and higher level of involvement because of the smaller classes helped me stay focused and accountable for my studies!

ADVICE TO COLLEGE-BOUND STUDENTS:

 GO TO CLASS!!!!

ADVICE TO SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO ENTER MY FIELD:

Marketing/Business is a great field to enter; it is very versatile and there is so much to do with.  My biggest piece of advice is network- you never know when someone you've met can help you in your career down the road.

TIPS ON CHOOSING A MAJOR/CAREER:

Do what you want- no one else is going to be doing your job for you after you graduate, so why should you listen to what others think in your major/career decisions?

I'VE LEARNED THIS FROM LIFE:

Life is short, you can't stress over the small things!

WHAT I'D BE DOING IF I HAD ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD:

If I had all the time in the world (and funds of course) I would travel the whole entire globe.  I am slowly working my way through Europe now, but I really want to explore Australia, Africa, Asia, everywhere... there are so many different ways of life, I think it is important to understand and embrace cultures outside of your own.
