Business Graduates

Kelly Boss

WHAT I DO NOW:

I am working on my MBA at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock.

HOW I GOT TO LSUS:

I chose LSUS because it is small and has high academic standards, but soccer is what got me to first consider it.

FOND MEMORIES OF LSUS:

Being a part of the Phi Mu sorority and captain of both the soccer and tennis teams.

LSUS FACULTY WHO HELPED ME:

Dr. Karen James, Dr. Tammy Knotts and Dr. Mary Lois White

WHAT THE LSUS ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP MEANT TO ME:

The scholarship gave me the opportunity to be involved on the campus without the added stress of a job to pay for books or groceries. Everything helps in college and I am so grateful!

HOW LSUS HELPED ME SUCCEED:

LSUS taught me so much. I learned about teamwork and leadership, both in the field and in the classroom. Those skills are something I will use in business every day.

ADVICE TO COLLEGE-BOUND STUDENTS:

If you think you can take on additional activities with your course load, you should try. I had no idea that I would play both soccer and tennis and do Phi Mu. It took a lot of discipline, but was way worth it to be so involved.

ADVICE TO SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO ENTER MY FIELD:

Do internships and network!

TIPS ON CHOOSING A MAJOR OR CAREER:

When you're still deciding on a major, take just Gen Ed courses your freshman year. That way, if you choose a different major, you don't lose credits. When picking a career, try to do internships in the summers in fields you are interested in. That's how I discovered that I love product development!

MY TOUGHEST PROFESSIONAL CHALLENGE:

I'm not sure yet!

MY TOUGHEST PERSONAL CHALLENGE:

Trying not to take on too much. I have to remember I am human and can only do so much.

SUCCESSES IN MY LIFE:

Graduated from LSUS Summa Cum Laude

Red River Athletic Conference All Academic

Beta Gamma Sigma; Order of Omega; Phi Eta Sigma (Honor Societies)

Chancellor's List

Captain of Women's Soccer & Tennis Teams (2nd All Conference in Soccer)

I'VE LEARNED THIS FROM LIFE:

Keep your "plans" flexible

WHAT I'D BE DOING IF I HAD ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD:

Working out and crafting inspirations from Pinterest
