Business and Education

The College of Business, Education & Human Development is located primarily in the Business and Education Building.  The College is composed of three schools, including the School of Business (Departments of Accounting & Business Law, Economics & Finance, and Management & Marketing), the School of Education (Department of Education), and the School of Human Sciences (Departments of Psychology and Kinesiology & Health Science).  All departments are located in the Business/Education Building with the exception of the Department of Kinesiology & Health Science, which is in the Health and Physical Education Building).

School of Business
The LSUS School of Business prepares students to become an integral part of local, state, and national businesses. The students are prepared to advance in the business community by accomplishing their personal goals and the goals of their business. The School of Business internship program gives students practical experience in the work place while possibly opening future opportunities. The School of Business houses the Associate Dean's office, faculty offices, classroom space, and computer labs for Business students, as well as community resources such as the Small Business Development Center and the Center for Economics and Business Research. The School of Business provides relevant, academically challenging opportunities for business students to gain exposure to and understanding of business concepts. Our students develop awareness of ethics, social responsibility and leadership issues.

School of Education
The School of Education consistently produces top educators for the state of Louisiana. The LSUS School of Education boasts a 97% success rate on the PRAXIS examinations, the state teachers' certification tests. LSUS takes a university-wide approach to teacher education. Every curriculum for the preparation of teachers is the result of cooperative efforts by all of the academic departments involved. This approach provides the training necessary to for prospective to confidently present and teach the subject matter of choice.  The School provides student computer labs and computer aided teaching lab space for the use of Education majors, as well as a Curriculum Resources Center and model elementary and secondary school classrooms.

School of Human Sciences
The School of Human Sciences programs housed in the Business/Education Building include those offered through the Department of Psychology.  Some Psychology graduates are employed by a variety of local agencies while others pursue graduate studies ranging from clinical psychology to law.  The Department of Psychology provides a variety of courses which are required for other majors as well, such as Introduction to Psychology which serves as a requirement for many majors and an elective for others and Educational Psychology which provides a theoretical base for Education majors.  The University's Testing and Evaluation Clinic is also a part of the Department of Psychology.
